LIVING THE DREAM…

We’ve spent the last 11 years living in Morzine, so it’s safe to say we know the extensive Portes du Soleil ski area like the back of our hand.
The Portes du Soleil is one of the largest cross-border ski areas in the world, where 12 French and Swiss resorts are linked together to create the second-biggest ski domain in Europe.  With over 201 lifts, 300 runs, 650k of piste & 10 snow parks, you’ll never get bored of what is on our doorstep, we certainly haven’t, and we’ve been here a long time.
AVORIAZ

Perched on top of the Prodain cliffs is one of our favourite stomping grounds in the massive Portes du Soleil, the resort of Avoriaz. To put it on the map Avoriaz 1800 occupies a central location in the Portes du Soleil ski area, which means you can explore everything between Switzerland, Châtel & Morzine with the help of just a few ski lifts.  Completely freed of cars, the streets of Avoriaz become part of the ski area and are shared by snowboarders, skiers, horse-drawn sleighs, children on sledges and pedestrians.

It’s easily accessible from Morzine and has all of this… 2 Burton Stash runs, 2 freestyle snow parks (beginner friendly options a-plenty), amazing creative piste, a mini half pipe, banging off-piste for all levels of snowboarder and more side hits than you can shake ya stick at!

For freestyle lovers Avoriaz is hands down the best resort in the French Alps.  Don’t be put off if freestyle ain’t ya jam, there’s still plenty to explore with incredible piste & plenty of off-piste for all levels of rider, it’s safe to say it has it all!

MORZINE

Morzine, in our eyes, is the best location to stay to access it all.  It’s a traditional Savoyard farming town steeped with traditional architecture & zero high rises meaning there’s no concrete jungle here.

It’s lively après bars & classic restaurant options makes it a firm family favourite with options for all ages to enjoy your down time off the mountain.  You can even catch the local ice hockey team, The Penguins, most weekends as its full on hockey season time during those winter months.

Together with the local linked area of Les Gets, Morzine boasts 120 km of piste divided into 69 runs (3 green, 29 blue, 28 red and 9 black) served by 48 modern lifts, all accessible using the same ski pass.

Morzine has quick access to Avoriaz via the Super Morzine lift, or you can opt for the free bus service which runs every 10 minutes from all over the Morzine village.  The bus is a short 10 minute drive to the Prodain lift which pops you straight into the heart of Avoriaz, opening up the endless Portes du Soleil ski area.  Or head in the other direction and get the bus to the Ardent lift in Montriond and access Avoriaz this way.

Morzine is definitely the place to stay if you want to slay it all!

LES GETS

Les Gets has stepped it up in the last few years on the freestyle game introducing a super fun beginner level freestyle park.  The resort is made up of cruisy wide open pistes with some amazing off-piste options for all you powder hungry hounds out there.

It has been committed for several years to the Famille Plus, and is an award winning family friendly resort.  Les Gets is linked with Morzine making Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes du Soleil a day out expedition for those staying in the town itself.

To explore the massive Portes du Soleil ski area from Les Gets means having an adventure day out covering a lot of ground, ability wise you need to be able to ‘get around easily’ already.  It’s so much fun and needs to be completed on a strict time scale so that you can ride all the way back to Les Gets before the lifts close for the day.  Our Gypsy team know the area like the back of our hand to eliminate stress and teach you some rad new skills along the way.

We have great day rates available, get your own Private Gypsy Coach to take you on the best adventure day-out of Les Gets.  Exploring the expansive Portes du Soleil stress free.

CHÂTEL

Châtel is a traditional Alpine village in the Haute-Savoie, it’s known for its Alpine chalets, aquatic centre and La Vieille Douane museum, which presents the history of smuggling in the area… we love a bit of history!

Châtel is easily accessible for our team from the Avoriaz side of the Portes du Soleil.  If you’d like an adventure day out to explore the Super Châtel Snow Park or ride the locally named ‘Happy Valley’ for some incredible off-piste we’d suggest hiring a Gypsy Coach to guide you around the extensive area of Châtel & the Portes du Soleil so you can have a stress free fun filled day.

Not only will we take you to the best spots but we’ll teach you all the right tricks & techniques to make sure you look like a boss in the process.  All lesson options are available from Châtel.

Let’s not forget to mention it also has the unique Fantasticable for anyone looking to fly across the valley like a flying squirrel.
